This is a painting done onsite, over a couple of days, from a watchtower overlooking the prairie. This is just south of Gainesville Florida, and some buildings are just visible on the far bluff to the left. The range of color, and the complexity of the masses of ground cover and grasses were a challenge. Looking back I realize I need to simplify and to keep the overall image in view. I tend to always be caught up in minute bits of information. As with all of my onsite painting the memory of the two days there is very clear; there was an occasional visitor to the tower, and constant activity on the Prairie, hikers, birds, and most surprising a wandering herd of Bison.
