Finished this study today, simply tweaking the color and making some adjustments to the size of elements, wanting it to recede back a bit. I’m happy with the organization, the idea of the light area being almost a perfect rectangle, working against the overall sense of an almost random pattern of the stones and lights.
I’m working toward my show in March at the Clayton Gallery here in Tampa, which is a dual show with Jeff Kronsnoble. We’ve been friends for so many years, and our work represents two directions in representational painting. It will be a great pleasure to show together and see the work in direct contrast.
The big difference between this photo and the one I posted a day or two ago is that I remembered to set the white balance on this one! DUH.
